Lowanna Karu is a Registered Miniature Goat Stud located in Longley, 20 minutes south of Hobart in Tasmania.

We first became interested in miniature goats when searching for pet options for our family. We were looking for furry, friendly, sociable pets with lots of personality. Miniature goats fitted the bill. They also had the added advantage of keeping down the pasture, eating weeds and generally cleaning up the paddocks.

We started our goat stud in 2011 and usually run around 20 does and 2-3 bucks. Our aim is to have a small stud of good quality animals. We are particularly interested in breeding animals with good structure and good hooves. Our areas of special interest are bio-security, worm management and genetics.

Our knowledge base comes from our farming background, 9 years of experience with breeding miniature goats, amazing support from other breeders with decades of experience and a commitment to continuing to learn and further our knowledge.

We do not take our goats to shows, but welcome visits to our property from prospective buyers. We also are very happy to offer pre and post-sales support for new goat owners.
